Djedovic and Ambassador of FR Germany, Anke Konrad discuss energy cooperation
The Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, talked today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Serbia, Anke Konrad, about the energy cooperation between the two countries and the continuation of German support in the energy transition process.
"Strategic documents are being prepared which will leat to a higher share of renewable energy in the energy mix, as well as to reducing the emissions of harmful gases." We share the vision of the EU and Germany in regards to achieving climate neutrality, and we highly appreciate their support towards this goal. In order to achieve a higher level of energy security and independence, we will need to build new renewable energy capacities, solar and wind power plants, but also to reduce inefficient energy consumption. This would entail significant financial resources, but also expert support," said Minister Djedovic. She reminded that for years, the German Development Bank KfW, in copperation with the Ministry, has been implementing energy infrastructure modernization projects that are important for the energy transition and rational use of energy, and reiterated that we will certainly continue the cooperation on new projects.
Ambassador Anke Konrad highlighted Germany's commitment to strengthening the strategic climate partnership with Serbia in the joint climate action.
"We will continue to support Serbia in the process of reaching its climate targets and implementing the green agenda, by providing support for a just transition, increasing the use of renewable energy sources and creating a green and sustainable economy." German experience and expertise can be of great assistance to Serbia which is in the process of preparation of its strategic energy documents. We share common goals and we remain willing to continue the cooperation on new projects".
The meeting was attended by the Director of the German Development Bank KfW Office Rudiger Hartmann, Christian Schilling, Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and representatives of GIZ.
