Mihajlovic: The green transition is a model of growth, structural changes necessary for energy stability
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, told RTS that the green agenda is a new model of growth, not a constraint, and that structural changes are necessary to open the market and enable energy and economic development.
"The Green Agenda is a completely new green, ecological and energy revolution everywhere in the world. This year, we have embarked on the path of green transition, and that does not mean any obstruction or restriction, but it is a completely new model of growth. At the same time, the goal is to have enough energy at sustainable prices, respecting all environmental protection standards, because there is no more energy without ecology, it must be together," said Mihajlovic.
She said that the Ministry initiated structural changes that contributed to the opening of Cluster 4 in the negotiations with the EU.
"I am proud that we have come to a situation where we can talk about opening Cluster 4. There is also energy and transport. Everything we did in traffic in previous years provided the conditions for that. Everything we do in the energy sector, especially when the division of activities in Srbijagas, as well as the strategic plan on oil reserves, is part of structural changes that are an important step towards market opening, because we can not allow ourselves to be closed, given that we transit country. We must continue to develop, to invest in new capacities, to preserve energy stability and security, but to have a healthy environment," said Mihajlovic.
She stated that the Ministry has passed new laws in the field of mining and energy, which are in line with the highest EU standards and which are the basis for new investments.
"We have completely new Laws on RES and energy efficiency and rational use of energy. The legislative framework is more modern and more attractive for investment. We have also prepared an investment plan with projects worth more than 17 billion euros, which means new jobs and new green investments that will further enable our economic growth. At the same time, in addition to building new capacities, we have started the process of raising energy efficiency. This means that we have enough energy at sustainable prices, respecting all environmental standards. There is no more energy without ecology, it must be together. On the one hand, we must have a healthier environment, and on the other, we must be energy safe. We have prepared an investment plan with projects worth more than 17 billion euros. "These are new jobs and new green investments that will enable our economic growth," she pointed out.
