Mihajlovic: Protection and safety of workers are priorities, the future of "Resavica" is a joint and sustainable plan.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, Phd, talked today with the management of the PE for underground coal mining "Resavica", about production, financial situation, safety and protection at work, current business and plans for consolidation and restructuring.

She said that the support of the state is key for the functioning of "Resavica" and reiterated that the safety of miners is in the first place.

"The state provides more than 40 million euros annually for the employees of "Resavica". Our obligation is to take care of them, but also to talk about which mines should work and can be profitable, and which cannot. It is essential that we jointly make and implement decisions related to the consolidation and restructuring of this public company. We need a joint solution proposal with financial, technical and investment projections, because the goal is to have a sustainable plan for the transition process of the coal sector, so that we can make long-term solutions, especially those related to unprofitable mines, "said the Deputy Prime Minister.

At the meeting the inspection supervision and the necessity to carry out all procedures before starting work again in "Soko" mine after the death of eight miners, was also discussed.

Sasa Spasic, acting Director of PE PEU "Resavica" said that without the support of the state, ie the Ministry of Mining and Energy, this public company could not function and presented the results of work, plans for the next period, as well as opportunities to increase profits of profitable mines, but also problems with which "Resavica" is facing.
