In six months, a total of 5 MW of prosumer solar power plants were connected to the grid, requests for over 100 MW were submitted
Total capacity of solar power plants installed by prosumers in the previous six months exceeded five megawatts. It is the result of a simplified procedure for installing solar panels and recognition of the benefits generated by the institution of prosumers introduced by the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources.
Total installed power of solar power plants which before the adoption of the Law on the Use of RES in 2021 was 11 MW, in the course of the last six months has been increased by an additional 5.17 MW, which is the total power of solar power plants of prosumers that have acquired this status due to the implementation of this law so far.
In addition to the 5 MW power plants that are already on the grid, currently in the process of request processing at "Elektrodistribucija Srbije" there are still close to 700 requests submitted by households, residential communities and business entities, for which the total power would be 102.1 MW.
Following the investments of natural and legal persons that are in the process of obtaining the prosumer status we can expect a significant increase in the capacity for energy generation from RES in a short time, which contributes to the increase of the total capacity for power generation and to higher level of energy security.
Investments made by prosumers in the field of solar energy are characterized by a short time for the realization of the investment, joint investment of state-owned and private capital, or only private capital mainly with commercial buyers, use of the entire output for the needs of the domestic market, alongside significant independence and lower costs for the actual producers.
