The Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, visited the Ziđinšan mine in Shanghai (PR China) today.
"The Republic of Serbia is an important strategic partner of the "Ziđin Group", which is also indicated by the memoranda worth 4 billion dollars, signed yesterday at the Serbian Investment Forum in Sjamen. The surface mine we visited was declared the first green mine in the People's Republic of China. It is noticeable that there are many green areas and land reclamation, which they plan doing in the Republic of Serbia, and we also saw solar power plants. We are satisfied with the fact that they are transferring their technology to us and that now with the construction of a solar power plant in Bor they want to complete the process of the sustainability of the mine. Ziđin produces 86,000 tons of copper here, and from next year, 180,000 tons will be produced in Bor, so almost two and a half times more, which speaks of the potential of our mines and the modern technology applied by our partners from the Republic of China," stated the minister.
"Zida Koper" is the sixth largest producer of copper in the world. In the People's Republic of China, it is recognized as a green mine in which the comprehensive utilization of mineral raw materials is present, because their goal is a circular economy without waste and the abolition of carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. The company's investments in environmental protection infrastructure make up 20 percent of total investments. At the same time, they established their R&D center for technology improvement and have 117 patents.
Minister Đedović Handanović also visited the smelter in Shanghai, which annually produces 400,000 tons of cathodes copper, and together with the deputy chairman of the Board of Directors of "Ziđin Mining Group" Zou Laičang, she planted a tree of friendship.
