Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, spoke today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko, about bilateral energy cooperation between the two countries.

Commissioning of the Pancevo combined cycle power plant (CCPP), a project that we implemented in collaboration with Russian partners, is of great significance for the Republic of Serbia, Minister Djedovic said.
"Pancevo CCPP is the first gas-steam power plant in our country intended for the combined generation of electricity and heat using natural gas, one of the most ecologically clean fuels. The planned output is sufficient for supplying around 300,000 average households per year, which will greatly contribute to energy security of the Republic of Serbia," said the Minister.
Djedovic reminded that the Russian Federation was a major energy partner for the Republic of Serbia and added that the present challenging times clearly demonstrated how much the construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline contributed to the energy stability and security of our country by ensuring a stable gas supply.
At the meeting, the plans related to the construction of a new oil pipeline to Hungary and the connection to the Russian Druzhba oil pipeline were also discussed.
Ambassador Botsan Harchenko congratulated the Minister on her appointment and expressed hope that energy cooperation will be continued.
"We are interested in providing full support for further development of energy infrastructure in Serbia, especially for the construction of gas interconnection with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Srpska, the new oil pipeline to Hungary, but also the reconstruction of energy facilities, in which Russian companies have already participated," said Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko.
