The energy sector reform is important for further preservation of the security of electricity supply, said Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, in a conversation with the International Monetary Fund delegation, led by the head of the mission, Jan Kees Martijn.

The meeting discussion also revolved around the adoption of strategic documents in the energy sector, new investments in energy capacities and reform of public enterprises.
"We are in the process of drafting strategic documents concerning energy sector, the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan and the Energy Sector Development Strategy through which different energy transition scenarios and targets in the field of efficiency of renewables and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are considered. We hope that we will be able to adopt these two important documents by the end of the year, said the Minister.
At this moment, it is necessary to finish the ongoing projects, but also to define new ones in order to ensure that all needs for energy and energy sources in Serbia are met in the coming years, Djedovic added.
"We need to complete the construction of the gas interconnector with Bulgaria and the new interconnector with North Macedonia, to start the construction of new energy facilities, the Bistrica and Djerdap 3 hydroelectric plants, new oil pipelines and gas storage facilities. The priority of the new government is investment in the energy sector, in order to ensure a steady supply for the citizens and industry," the Minister pointed out.
