Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedović Handanović, chaired the first meeting of the Working Group for monitoring the activities of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), regarding the potential imposition of sanctions on NIS JSC, held today at the Government of Serbia.

“The Government of the Republic of Serbia is working diligently to prevent the negative consequences of sanctions. At this moment, it is very important that we receive additional clarifications from the U.S. administration, which I believe will happen either today or tomorrow. At the same time, we are preparing for dialogue with the incoming U.S. administration in order to establish a platform for negotiations with the Russian side. We are all working in a synchronized manner as one team, and our goal is for the state, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, to arrive at the best solutions in the interest of the Republic of Serbia," said Djedović Handanović.
She reiterated that it is necessary for NIS JSC to continue to operate without disruption during this transitional period.
"The government will continue to monitor the market supply and prices, and will engage in discussions with all market participants in order to maintain stability," said the Minister, adding that the Working Group would meet regularly in the coming days to monitor the development of the situation.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, and a member of the Board of Directors of NIS JSC, Dragutin Matanović, also participated in the meeting of the Working Group.
